Roman Forest City Council members approved a resolution authorizing a joint election with Montgomery County for the upcoming Nov. 3 election.

Council members approved the measure during the council’s July 27 meeting.

City Administrator Scott Castleberry noted the following City Council positions will be up for reelection in November:

Council Position 1, currently held by Mitchell Davis
Council Position 3, currently held by Jerry Reasner
Council Position 5, currently held by Larry Sanders

Some context

The Roman Forest City Council is made up of five council members and a mayor. Both council members and the mayor serve staggered, two-year terms, according to the city’s website.

Prospective City Council members need to have lived in Texas for at least one year and in Roman Forest for at least six months before filing to run. Per the website, mayoral candidates are required to have lived in Roman Forest for at least one year prior to filing.

What’s next

Castleberry noted individuals interested in running can pick up election packets at Roman Forest City Hall between 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Applications must be returned to City Hall by 5 p.m. Aug. 17.
