Schlumberger, a Houston-based oilfield services company, is seeking to relocate its national headquarters to the city of Sugar Land.
Sugar Land officials are working with Schlumberger officials to offer an incentive package intended to provide gap funding to assist the company with its transition, as well as compete with other potential sites, according to city documents.
If Sugar Land City Council approves the incentive package during its Oct. 6 meeting, it will allow Schlumberger to begin improvements to its existing 32-acre Sugar Land campus, located at the northeast intersection of Hwy. 90 and Gillingham Lane.
Proposed improvements to the existing site include the demolition of certain buildings, utilities repair and reconstruction of the campus landscape, according to city documents.
Improvements to the campus are expected to be complete by late 2017 and will provide more than 500 new jobs and generate more than $200 million of capital investment, according to city documents.
