Trader Joe’s, a California-based grocer known for its branded products, will open its new Sugar Land store this month.

The 10,000-square-foot store will open at 8 a.m. Oct. 24 in the University Commons shopping development, offering specialty food and beverages, frozen meals and everyday items, according to an Oct. 21 news release.

About the company

Ahead of the opening, Trader Joe’s hired more than 60 employees from the surrounding area and nearby stores to meet its goal of creating a “neighborhood grocery store,” according to the release.

Additionally, the company’s Neighborhood Shares Program ensures all unsold products that remain useable be donated to nonprofit organizations in the community daily, according to the release.


What else

Trader Joe's has more than 560 stores nationwide, per the release. The Sugar Land store takes the spot formerly held by Sprouts Farmers Market, which closed the location in April 2023.
