Co-owner Rody Quinton said his family takes a holistic approach to nurture pets' physical, emotional and spiritual health at their new business, Norma PetSpaw.

Quinton runs the dog grooming business with his mother, Norma Quinton, and wife, Kristen Maldonado, who also owns local business Crystal Yoga Studio.

His mother, who has been grooming dogs since 2007, is also the head groomer for Norma PetCare at 15012 Lindita Drive, Houston, Quinton said. He brings his experience volunteering at no-kill shelters and helping his mother at her business, while Maldonado brings her wellness practices as a yoga instructor.

Norma PetSpaw differs from the original location by the owners incorporating a “more mindful, healing approach to pet care,” Quinton said.

The business offers dog grooming services ranging from bathing and nail trims to energy cleansing with Reiki, which the owners believe can ease anxiety and pain, Quinton said.

A full spa day is also available to allow dog owners the convenience of a drop-off appointment while creating a day of play and stress-free grooming for the dogs, Quinton said.

"We want to also allow the dog to actually have a good experience, so ... rather than just being a service and getting something done, making it a positive experience for them," he said.
