A brewery is coming to Missouri City’s industrial Beltway 8 and Highway 90 corridor. Texas Leaguer Brewing Company, the brainchild of Nathan Rees, is slated to open this summer—the only such establishment in the city.
Rees, a singer-songwriter and county resident, said he got the idea from his love of home brewing and having a network of friends in Houston’s beer scene. He said the nearly 12,400-square-foot brewery will have a vintage baseball theme.
“Who would have thought my two hobbies would become my profession?” he said.
Reese declined to reveal what types of beer would be available from Texas Leaguer’s head brewer Nate “Doc” Rebeck, but he said the facility is expected to have an industrial look with picnic tables, a nearly 4,000-square-foot sports bar and tap room space, and live music. He said the plan is to arrange for food trucks to visit the brewery, which he said in still under discussion with the city.
“When we open, we’ll start with a Friday happy hour and Saturday tours,” he said. With us being in a business park there is plenty of parking when other businesses aren’t open.”
Reese said he noticed that while Houston has its share of craft breweries, the pickings are slimmer in Fort Bend, where Texas Leaguer Brewing Company will the be county’s third location and the only brewery in Missouri City.
Rees admitted that some advised against his plan to open in an industrial park at 13503 Pike Road, Missouri City. But he said the necessary car traffic is present in the area.
“I think there are a lot of challenges,” he said about opening the brewery in Missouri City. “We are in our bubble out here but that bubble is growing rapidly.”
“It’s unlike any other industry, we all support each other,” Rees said. “We’re all about grassroots awareness.”
