An upscale gun club is slated to open in Missouri City in 2018, and will offer formal dining and other amenities along with weapon sales and target shooting.
Billed as a “Guntry club,” the Brazos Shooting and Social Club will be built in Sienna Plantation near the intersection of Sienna Ranch Road and Hwy. 6, according to club president Jay Loftis. Construction is slated to begin this spring, and the club’s opening is planned for early 2018, he said.
That site is vacant and the land is under contract to be purchased from Johnson Development, Loftis said. Johnson is building the Sienna Plantation master-planned community. Loftis said the land on which the club will be built is zoned LC-3, permitting retail use. No variance or rezoning will be required, according to Cory Stottlemyer, media relations specialist for Missouri City.
The 54,000-square-foot shooting club will also offer meeting space, gun training, recreational activities and will be geared toward families, according to Loftis. The club will be one of only three facilities in Texas to offer 100-yard practice rifle lanes.
In addition to firearms, the club will also sell non-lethal personal defense items, he said.
Stottlemyer said the company has not filed an application to conduct business in the city, something required of any new business seeking to open in Missouri City. However, representatives of the company did meet informally with city staff to review information required on that application, Stottlemyer said.
The club will also feature 40 premier shooting lanes with Action Target technology (including four of the 100-yard rifle lanes), 36 pistol lanes, six tactical lanes and reserved lanes for VIP members. Casual dining will be available as well as formal dining, Loftis said.
