Upscale diner Alex's Kitchen has reopened to the public after extensive renovations that increased seating capacity and expanded the size of the building, bar and kitchen.

Alex's Kitchen closed down temporarily from July through October for renovations, before reopening Oct. 18 at its Missouri City location, 2601 Cartwright Rd.

"It got to the point we were having to turn people away," co-owner Juan Rodriguez said. "But now that renovations are complete, we can serve many more people."

According to Rodriguez, the Missouri City restaurant nearly tripled in size, from 1,100 square feet to 3,000. In addition, the restaurant now features a full bar with signature cocktails and an expanded kitchen. Seating has also increased from 40 to 80 seats and the menu has been expanded accordingly.

"We want people to know that it's still the same people running the restaurant; it's still Alex and Arturo," Rodriguez said.

Alex's Kitchen features an upscale dining experience with both a lunch and dinner service. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. The restaurant is open until 10 p.m. on Saturday and is closed on Monday and Thursday.

Rodriguez recommended that diners reserve their space online, as dinner service can be very competitive.
