A grand opening was held for the Torrey Chase Apartments, according to a May 2 news release. The 280-unit complex offers one- and two-bedroom apartments for rent to residents earning 60% or less of the area median income.

Torrey Chase Apartments features amenities such as a dog park, a multi-acre walking park, a swimming pool, an entertainment area and a playscape, according to the release.

“We have 40,000 people on our waiting list,” said David A. Northern, Sr., president of the Houston Housing Authority, via the release. “We could not do this alone. We need deep affordability options in our city, and this partnership allows us to provide quality housing for local families. We want to continue to bring more properties like this to our city.”

The development was a collaboration between MLC Development and leaders from Westmont Hospitality Group, STOA Architects and DC Partners, according to the release. The project was also developed under HHA’s Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, according to a May 2 email from a spokesperson for the project.
