Two businesses were damaged in a two-alarm fire in Old Town Spring on Feb. 20.

According to Effie and Brad Stees—owners of both Envy Wine Room and Prohibition Texas on Preston Avenue in Spring—each of the adjacent businesses sustained damage after a light fixture malfunction at Envy Wine Room sparked a fire at about 10:30 p.m. Feb. 20.

The pair noted in a Feb. 21 Facebook post that the Envy Wine Room facility was a total loss.

“We will rebuild and will come out the other side stronger and better,” Effie and Brad said in a joint Facebook post, noting Prohibition Texas suffered smoke damage and would resume operations in a few days after the facility is cleaned. “To all our friends and family, thank you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Spring Fire Department officials said 85 firefighters from five area fire departments responded to the fire Feb. 20, taking roughly 45 minutes to quell the flames. Investigators from the Harris County Fire Marshall's Office determined the fire was accidental.

While the Steeses could not be reached for comment on a potential timeline for Envy Wine Room's rebuild, they said in the Facebook post that some of the restaurant's wine selection will be made available at Prohibition Texas until the rebuild is complete.
