After more than six years in the role, Les Cave is retiring April 4, according to a news release, and Scamp will take on the position April 7.
What we know
Scamp has lived in the Spring/Klein community for over 20 years and has worked with organizations that support women and families for just as long, officials said. Areas of focus have included behavioral health, re-entry and housing services.
Her most recent role has been serving as CEO of Santa Maria Hostel since 2014. According to the release, Scamp’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Houston.
She has served on several boards and support state and local projects, including:
- Network of Behavioral Health Providers Board of Directors
- Pathways Community HUB Community Advisory Council
- Community Engagement Advisory Board for Baylor College of Medicine/University of Houston’s Consortium for Translational and Precision Health
- Harris County Plan of Safe Care Steering Committee
- Texas Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Collaboration
- Houston/Harris County Office of Drug Policy Task Force
