Copper's Cat Commune


This nonprofit cat sanctuary is dedicated to the lifetime care of a limited population of medically challenged cats with a focus on paraplegics, incontinence and stomatitis; the adoption of as many of those cats as can be reasonably accomplished; as well as the promotion of trap-neuter-release programs and feline behavioral therapy.

Cypress Creek FACE

Islamic Arts Society

This nonprofit foundation works to raise awareness and educate communities about the importance of wearing seatbelts while driving and riding in vehicles. Volunteers may need to be age 18 or older or complete a background check and extra training for some opportunities, but there are activities for all age groups.

Barbara Bush Library Friends

This organization provides financial and volunteer support to the Barbara Bush Branch Library. Money raised helps fund the purchase of additional books for the library system; materials for American Sign Language, English as a second language and citizenship classes; summer reading programs; and programs and events for children, teens and adults.

Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens

This 393-acre outdoor garden and arboretum offers the public and scientific community a place to explore a wide variety of botanicals and tree species. Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens has a variety of both indoor and outdoor opportunities, most of which are available to volunteers age 16 and older. Precinct 3 Volunteer Program with Community Centers


Eight community centers in Harris County are operated by Precinct 3 offering residents of all ages sites to enjoy group activities, fitness classes, educational seminars and social support. Volunteer opportunities are available at some locations. Purchase of supplies or entrance fees may be necessary for some activities/trips.

This nonprofit organization offers a food pantry as well as classes for adults and youth programs. Volunteers who work in the food pantry must be at least 14 years old to volunteer with an adult, while those age 16 and older may volunteer without an adult. Volunteers who work in the nonprofit’s student programs must be age 18 or older.

The Houston Cannery

Owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Welfare Services Division, this cannery produces peanut butter to be distributed to those in need throughout the U.S. Community groups are encouraged to participate by providing groups of 12 volunteers for four-hour team-building experiences.
