Whether a family is new to a school district, relocated within its existing district or needs to enroll a new student in school, here are a few ways parents in Spring, Klein and Cy-Fair ISDs can get students registered for the 2019-20 school year.
Klein ISD Parents can now schedule an appointment to register students in the Klein ISD’s New Student Mega Enrollment event July 30-31. KISD classes will begin Aug. 19. The two-day event will allow families to register K-12 students within a high school feeder pattern at one location, without having to travel from campus to campus. The event is open to families who are new to KISD, KISD families that are enrolling a new student and KISD families living in a new attendance zone. Each family will be assigned to one of the following five Mega Enrollment locations:
  • Klein Cain High School, 10201 Spring Cypress Road, Houston
  • Klein Forest High School, 11400 Misty Valley Drive, Houston
  • Klein High School, 16715 Stuebner Airline Road, Klein
  • Klein Oak High School, 22603 Northcrest Drive, Spring
  • Schindewolf Intermediate School, 20903 Ella Blvd., Spring
Appointments for New Student Mega Enrollment began July 9 and can be made online. In addition to registering new students, KISD requires all families to complete its annual student update Aug. 1-16, prior to students receiving a schedule or teacher assignment. Information needed includes the students age, grade and registration for emergency purposes. The online update replaced the yellow AGR cards previously sent home the first day of school, according to the district’s website. Spring ISD Spring ISD will host a Back to School Expo on July 27 from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Dekaney High School, located at 22351 Imperial Valley Drive, Houston. SISD classes will begin Aug. 14. Although geared toward students who will be new to SISD for the 2019-20 school year, the event is open to all SISD students and their families and will include a family resource fair, free immunizations and other health and wellness resources, free school supplies and other giveaways. Additionally, staff from each of the district’s elementary, middle and high school campuses will be in attendance along with representatives from other local groups, including health care organizations, scouting groups, the Houston Public Library and Texas Women Infants and Children. SISD partner Mystros Barber Shop will also be on-site providing students with free haircuts. For the first year, new district parents are encouraged to complete the online registration process prior to the event in hopes of streamlining the process, according to a July 10 news release. Supporting documents, such as birth certificates, proof of residency in Spring ISD and student immunization records, may be submitted at the expo. Cy-Fair ISD Cy-Fair ISD will host its seventh annual Back to School Expo on Aug. 10 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Berry Center, located at 8877 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress. CFISD classes will begin Aug. 26. During the expo, parents can register incoming K-12 CFISD students, and prospective staff can explore employment opportunities. Additionally, the Harris County Health Department will administer immunizations for students with Medicaid, CHIP or no insurance; Cy-Fair Community Health Center will provide assistance with Medicaid insurance applications and school-based health center applications; and CFISD Health Services will conduct vision screenings. Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital will also be on-site to conduct physical exams; Walmart Neighborhood Market will provide school supplies, fruits and vegetables; and parents can register for CFISD’s before and after school care program, Club Rewind. Parents should note pre-K new student registration will not be available at the expo and instead will be held at elementary campuses Aug. 13-16. Parents can also register students in grades K-12 at every campus in the district Aug. 13-16 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. When registering new students, CFISD requires the following documentation: a copy of the child’ birth certificate, current immunization record, a government-issued photo ID for the child's parent or legal guardian, proof of residency, child’s Social Security card and a report card or transcript from the child’s last school if the student is registering for sixth or ninth grade.
