The proposed road improvements include widening the road to a four-lane concrete boulevard from east of Aldine Westfield Road to west of Hardy Toll Road. The project is in the design phase. Harris County plans to seek bids for the project in the fourth quarter of 2017.

4. Gosling Road widening segments 2 and 3


The project will widen the road from two to four lanes from West Mossy Oaks to West Rayford roads and from West Rayford Road to an area south of Spring Creek. Both segments are in the design phase. Harris County will seek bids for Segment 2 in the third quarter of 2017, and Segment 3 will be up for bid in the fourth quarter of 2017.

5. Hufsmith-Kohrville Road widening Segment 6


The project to widen the road from Willow Creek Estates Lane to FM 2920 and install traffic signals or modify existing signals is in the final design phase. The county will accept bids for the project on June 12.

Regional Project


$7 billion I-45 expansion


Construction on the overhaul a of a 24-mile stretch of I-45 from Beltway 8 in North Houston to Spur 527 at I-69 near downtown Houston is expected to begin by 2020, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

Segments 1 & 2: Beltway 8 North to I-10




  • Add four MaX lanes—high-occupancy vehicle and toll lanes—with two-way, 24/7 operations

  • Add one frontage road lane in each direction


Segment 3: Downtown Houston




  • Reroute I-45 to be parallel with I-10 on the north side of downtown and parallel to I-69 on the east side of downtown

  • Existing elevated section of I-45 on the west and south sides of downtown, known as the Pierce Elevated, to be replaced by downtown connectors

  • Two express lanes in each direction on I-10 from I-45 to east of I-69 allows traffic to bypass downtown.
