Students at Lone Star College-North Harris and LSC-University Park will be able to work toward obtaining a Bachelor of Applied Science in energy, manufacturing and trades management starting in fall 2020.

As previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper, Lone Star College System officials announced Dec. 10 that the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges had approved LSCS to begin offering select four-year degree programs. The community college system is one of the first in the state to begin offering bachelor's degrees.

According to the LSCS website, the BAS-EMTM is designed for Associate of Applied Science degree-holding students who are seeking to advance their professional qualifications and graduates of the program will have a broader understanding of the managerial roles in energy, manufacturing and trade industries. LSC-University Park is located at 20515 Hwy. 249, Houston, and LSC-North Harris is located at 2700 W. Thorne Drive, Houston.

Starting in fall 2020, LSCS will also offer a Bachelor of Applied Technology in cybersecurity at LSC-Westway Park Technology Center and a Bachelor of Science in nursing at LSC-Montgomery.
