Jason Cunningham has been named the new CEO at TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital, according to a Feb. 26 news release.

The background

Cunningham moved to this position from the vice president role at the Huntsville Hospital System in Decatur, Alabama. Before that, he served 12 years with the Hospital Corporation of America in Georgia and Florida.

With a background as a registered respiratory therapist, Cunningham has served in Level I Trauma, Level III NICU and comprehensive cardiac programs, officials said. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas, and a master’s degree in health care administration from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia.

TOPS is a physician-owned inpatient and outpatient health care center offering colonoscopies, general surgery, and plastic and reconstructive surgery, as well as gynecology, orthopedics, urology and other specialty services.

The facility is 58,000 square feet with 15 inpatient beds, 30 pre-operative and post-operative beds, and nine operating rooms, according to the website.
