The Joint Commission has granted HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest its Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center for a second time, according to a Feb. 4 news release.

This reaccreditation highlights the hospital’s commitment to safe, quality patient care, officials said.

How we got here

The hospital first achieved this designation in late 2022, and the reaccreditation process happens every two years.

As part of the reaccreditation process, HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest had an onsite review at the end of 2024 during which Joint Commission officials evaluated standards including emergency management; care environment; infection prevention and control; leadership; medication management; and rights and responsibilities of the individual, per the release. This included onsite observations and interviews.

“We are incredibly proud and honored to have been reaccredited as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission,” hospital CEO Joel North said in a statement. “This reaccreditation exemplifies the dedication of our physicians and health care professionals to providing our community with the best in stroke care.”
