HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest is being led by a new chief executive officer, according to a Sept. 23 news release from the hospital system.

The big picture

As of Sept. 30, Joel North—the former chief operating officer for HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood—is serving as HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest’s new CEO, according to the release. The position was formerly held by Scott Davis who transferred to another HCA location in June.

HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest is an acute care hospital with 423 beds and specialties such as neurosurgery, cardiology, maternity care and surgery services, according to the release. The hospital has been serving patients in the north Houston area for more than 50 years.

According to the release, North:
  • Began working for HCA Houston Healthcare as an assistant administrator and administrative resident of Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center in 2018
  • Became the assistant administrator at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood in May 2019
  • Became COO of HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood in August 2020
  • Earned a bachelor of arts in medical humanities and a master’s of business administration with a specialization in health care from Baylor University
