The overview
The U.S. Census Bureau released new five-year data for 2023 on Dec. 12 as part of its American Community Survey, or ACS. The new data represents a five-year estimate of the population across the country from 2019 to 2023, according to the Census website.
This data compares with the 2018 survey results, which studied the country from 2014 to 2018.
Six ZIP codes make up Community Impact’s Spring and Klein coverage area: 77068, 77069, 77070, 77379, 77388 and 77389. The total population estimates for all of these ZIP codes combined grew from around 247,674 residents in 2018 to 271,487 residents in 2023—a roughly 9.6% increase, according to the survey results.
Data also shows the Spring and Klein area has gotten younger as the median ages for all six ZIP codes decreased over the five-year period. The ZIP code with the biggest median age decrease was 77069, which fell from 41 years in 2018 to 34.7 years in 2023.
ZIP code 77070 had the smallest change with a median age of 34.3 years for 2018 and 33.8 years for 2023, data shows.
