Spring Fire Department kicked off its 70th anniversary celebration with an open house and blood drive at Spring Fire Station No. 71 on Jan. 14.
Originally founded in 1953, the Spring Fire Department will mark 70 years since receiving its charter April 29. The department provides fire suppression services across 62 square miles in north and northeast Spring.
Today, the department operates out of nine stations with a fleet of 46 apparatus and 184 volunteer, part-time and full-time personnel. The department is led by Chief Scott Seifert.
