Brixology Crafted Cocktails opened in Vintage Park in 2012 and specializes in pre-Prohibition style cocktails.
Employees make the tinctures, syrups and juices the bar uses in the cocktails using fruits and herbs, bartender James Reichert said.
The Spiced Old Fashioned ($14) starts with straight rye whiskey, Booker Noe bourbon and angostura bitters, to which Reichert adds homemade turbinado syrup, a vanilla bean, orange peel and a cinnamon stick.
The addition of orange peel and spices gives the drink an aromatic and flavorful quality, Reichert said.
“It elevates it from the traditional,” Reichert said.
Reichert said the drink pairs well with pizza, steak or grilled fish. Brixology also serves a selection of cheeses, soups, salads and entrees.
