Some context

Nicole Doerre Peters is running against Justin "Bumpy" Wooldridge for a seat on the board after current Position 5 trustee Ronnie Anderson opted against seeking reelection.

What is your top priority if elected?

My priority will be partnering with parents and educators to provide a safe and supportive environment where every student can learn, grow, and thrive. I am dedicated to equipping educators with essential resources, and students with opportunities and programs to prepare them to become successful and contributing citizens in adulthood.

What is the biggest issue Klein ISD is currently facing and how will you address it?

Insufficient funding affects teacher salaries, resources, facility maintenance, and student services. I have and will continue to advocate for state-level change. Prioritizing spending, making smart financial decisions, leveraging existing district resources and community collaboration are crucial for implementing necessary improvements for success.

What are the biggest needs for Klein ISD students and how will you address them?

Through years of volunteering in our schools and conversations with families, it’s clear safety and academic progress remain the top needs. Every policy and expenditure should be based on student needs. It’s imperative that we adopt policies and procedures that promote safe and disciplined schools while focusing on academic growth.

How will you work to help expand professional development opportunities for educators and school staff?

I will work to assure professional development is guided by district strategic priorities and enhances student success by also addressing the educators needs. Beyond T[exas] E[ducation A[gency] mandated hours, I will advocate for additional safety training for all educators and staff to further support a secure learning environment and strengthen the….

How will you work to ensure campus safety throughout Klein ISD?

Having lived here my whole life, safety and academic excellence remain top priorities. Achieving this requires clear safety protocols, consistent behavioral expectations, sufficient support and funding. Partnering with families, Klein P[olice] D[epartment and outside agencies for training, while engaging students in building a positive culture, will ensure a safe, disciplined environment.

What is your top priority if elected?

School safety and security. In today’s world, the threats our students face rarely stay within the confines of the school building. That’s why we must double our efforts to keep them safe both on and off campus.

What is the biggest issue Klein ISD is currently facing and how will you address it?

Credibility. We can make KISD the high standard it once was if we have integrity driven productivity with accountability. What we have now is: productivity when desired, integrity where warranted and zero accountability. Continuing this course will further separate the district from the constituents it was elected to serve.

What are the biggest needs for Klein ISD students and how will you address them?

Too many students and parents feel they have lost their voice. I will give them their voice back by serving as a direct line to the board. Every voice should and will be heard at the highest level and a response will be given to each individual request.

How will you work to help expand professional development opportunities for educators and school staff?

First and foremost, I support putting a mentoring program in place. A true mentoring program, unlike what we have now. Tenured teachers mentoring new teachers and continuing-education classes will be determined by mentor feedback and annual review. I will be a source of support for all Klein teachers.

How will you work to ensure campus security throughout Klein ISD?

To my knowledge, our schools are physically secure. However, we have had multiple instances where the district has failed to properly vet staff before hiring and/or properly investigate reports of illegal activity involving students. I will leave no stone unturned to keep our students safe.
