On Feb. 11, Spring ISD's board of trustees approved a $10.3 million safety package that will include new fencing at most of the district’s schools.

The gist

On Feb. 6, Chief of District Operations Mark Miranda said the work included in the multi-campus safety package will:
  • Add new fencing at 41 of SISD’s 43 campuses, and at the district’s administration building
  • Upgrade the parking lot at SISD’s Gordon M. Anderson Leadership Center
The fences included in the package are “designed to be unscalable,” Miranda said.

A timeline was not announced for this project.

Zooming in

SISD’s board unanimously approved—under the consent agenda, which is made of multiple items voted on in one motion—the guaranteed maximum price for the multi-campus safety package on Feb. 11. Trustee Deborah Jensen was absent from the vote.

Looking back

SISD leaders have been implementing new safety projects since the district’s $850 million bond was approved by voters in 2022, according to the district’s bond website.
