On Jan. 13, Klein ISD’s board of trustees approved details for three campus renovation projects, pushing the revamps to the next phase.

The projects

Two of three of the projects approved Jan. 27 will be funded by KISD’s $900 million bond program approved by voters in May 2022, according to a Jan. 27 email from a KISD spokesperson.

According to the email:
  1. Wunderlich Intermediate School will undergo a “comprehensive renovation” with construction slated to kick off in June. This project will be funded by KISD’s 2022 bond and will be similar to the renovation of Hildebrandt Intermediate.
    • Completion scheduled for July 2026
    • Estimated cost of $30 million
  2. Aging roofs at five KISD campuses will receive a makeover under a 2022 bond-funded roof revamp project, beginning in February. Vistas High, Kohrville Elementary, Kreinhop Elementary, McDougle Elementary and Roth Elementary schools will be reconstructed.
    • Completion scheduled for July
    • Estimated cost of $1 million
  3. Klein Cain High School’s entryway roof will also be replaced, with work to begin in February. This project will not be bond-funded, but instead will be paid for through a warranty.
    • Completion scheduled for July
    • Estimated cost $250,000
