The details
As part of the recognition, trustees approved a resolution proclaiming Nov. 11 as Ronnie Anderson Day.
Anderson, who was first elected to the board of trustees in 2009, attended Haude and Theiss elementary schools, Strack and Kleb intermediate schools and Klein High School.
During the meeting, Anderson thanked the board and the KISD community for his time spent on the board.
“I've been able to serve for more than 15 years with 16 or 17 different board members ... who have probably been some of the stronger and more resolved board members we've ever had,” Anderson said. “We come to decisions always for the kids ... [and] it's because no one's putting their own thoughts and agendas into it."
What they’re saying
State Rep. Sam Harless, R-Spring, was also in attendance to honor Anderson during his final meeting.
“This is honoring 15 years of outstanding service to the Klein community,” Harless said. “You're going to be greatly missed, but as doors close, other ones open, and we're very proud of the job you've done.”
KISD Superintendent Jenny McGown fought back tears as she congratulated Anderson on his time spent as a trustee.
“I want to thank you for everything that you have done for the students and the staff and the families of Klein ISD,” McGown said.
Trustee Dustin Creager, who was also honored during his last meeting on the board after serving three years as trustee, said Anderson has been a role model for incoming trustees throughout his tenure on the board.
“There are so many board members that have done well and had success on this board because of you,” Creager said. “You're a great mentor. You're a great friend. You're a great father figure. You're just everything great, and you have done so much and touched this district in so many ways that you will be cherished.”
What's next
Anderson opted out of running to maintain his position during the Nov. 5 election. Nicole Doerre Peters is set to take over Anderson’s position on the board after defeating Justin “Bumpy” Wooldridge during the election.
