Klein ISD trustees welcomed three new campus principals during the board’s April 8 meeting.

The overview

During the meeting, Bob Anderson, KISD chief of human resource services, announced Shannon Strole, Annie Welday-Zimney and Jennifer Elbert as the new principals of Klein High School, Doerre Intermediate School and Kuehnle Elementary School, respectively.

Most recently, Strole served as principal of Doerre Intermediate School, Welday-Zimney served as an associate principal at Klein High School, and Elbert served as an assistant principal at Northampton Elementary School, Anderson said.

Strole, Welday-Zimney and Elbert have spent 25 years, 11 years and 16 years, respectively, with KISD. Elbert was named KISD Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2013.

What they’re saying

Each of the new principals thanked the community for welcoming them to their new schools during the meeting.
  • “Klein High School is truly built upon the community,” Strole said. “I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity.”
  • “I feel like I won the lottery,” Welday-Zimney said. “I think Doerre [Intermediate] has the best community, the best students, the best faculty, and I could not be more honored to be the principal of that campus.”
  • “I would like to take a moment to thank [Superintendent Jenny] McGown,” Elbert said. “I’m so grateful for the confidence you have in me and the opportunity to serve as the future principal of Kuehnle Elementary.”
What's next

While Strole and Welday-Zimney had already assumed their new roles as of the April 8 meeting, Elbert will begin her tenure as principal of Kuehnle Elementary School on June 1.
