Spring High School’s softball field has been renamed in honor of longtime coach Julie Wyrick, according to a Feb. 27 news release from Spring ISD. Wyrick has coached at SHS for almost 24 years, amassing 600 wins.

At a Feb. 23 dedication event, community members, SISD staff, and current and former students gathered to honor Wyrick.

“She’s always just had the perfect balance: pushing people but also always being their biggest supporter; loving somebody while also telling them, ... ‘Hey, you need to get your stuff together,’” SHS junior London Park said via the release.

In June, SISD’s board of trustees first honored Wyrick and unveiled the plaque that would eventually decorate Wyrick’s field.
