On Dec. 5, Spring ISD’s board of trustees selected a calendar for the 2024-25 school year with a later start date than in the 2023-24 school year.

In a nutshell

SISD trustees unanimously voted to approve the district’s recommended instructional calendar, Option A, on Dec. 5.

According to SISD leaders, the approved calendar will include:
  • A start date of Aug. 14, 2024 for students; the first day of school for the 2023-24 calendar was Aug. 10, 2023
  • An end date of May 30, 2025 for students; the last day for the 2023-24 school year will be May 31, 2024
  • Summer school held from June 5-July 2, 2025
  • A student holiday on Election Day to allow students of age to vote
Another calendar choice, Option B, was presented to the community to consider alongside Option A. Voting was held online until Nov. 29, as previously reported by Community impact.

Also on the agenda


At the meeting, Board Vice President Winford Adams Jr., and Assistant Secretary Rhonda Newhouse were sworn in as trustees after running unopposed in the November election. Adams will remain in Position 4 and Newhouse will remain in Position 5.

After the reelection of Adams and Newhouse, SISD trustees voted to keep the board’s leadership positions in the same hands.
