On June 6, Spring ISD began offering free breakfast and lunch to all children age 18 and younger as well as enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old.

According to a June 3 district news release, the meals are being provided at no cost to SISD through the Summer Food Service Program—a U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition program administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture. Families do not have to apply, register or provide identification to participate in the summer meal program.

According to Texas Education Agency data, 28,234 students, or 85%, in SISD were considered economically disadvantaged in the 2021-22 school year.

SISD will distribute summer meals at 10 district sites in accordance with the following schedule:

Elementary schools

  • Burchett Elementary School: 8:30-8:50 a.m. (breakfast), 1-1:30 p.m. (lunch), June 6-July 8
  • Clark Primary School: 8:30-8:50 a.m. (breakfast), 1-1:30 p.m. (lunch), June 1-22 (Mon.-Thu.)
  • Hoyland Elementary School: 8:30-8:50 a.m. (breakfast), 1-1:30 p.m. (lunch), June 6-July 21
  • Major Elementary School: 8:30-8:50 a.m. (breakfast), 1-1:30 p.m.(lunch), June 6-July 8
  • Smith Elementary School: 8:30-8:50 a.m. (breakfast), 1-1:30 p.m. (lunch), June 6-July 8
  • Thompson Elementary School: 8:30-8:50 a.m. (breakfast), 1-1:30 p.m. (lunch), June 6-July 8

Middle schools

  • Clark Intermediate School: 8:30-8:50 a.m. (breakfast), 1-1:30 p.m. (lunch), June 1-July 8 (Mon.-Thu.)
  • Bailey Middle School: 9:30-9:50 a.m.(breakfast), 1-1:30 p.m. (lunch), June 6-July 8
  • School for International Studies at Bammel: 9:30-9:50 a.m. (breakfast), 1-1:30 p.m. (lunch), June 6-July 21

High schools

  • Westfield High School: 7:30-7:50 a.m. (breakfast), 12:30-1 p.m. (lunch), June 6-July 12
