Klein ISD has been named a statewide finalist in H-E-B's 20th annual Excellence in Education Awards program, district officials announced in a Jan. 13 news release.

According to the release, KISD is one of five school districts to receive the finalist distinction in the program's large school district category, which includes school districts with a student enrollment of 10,000 or more.

KISD previously earned the same distinction in 2019—one of only two districts in the state to do so, the release states.

"This award recognized school districts for their commitment to student achievement, innovative pathways and programs, strong fiscal management, and family engagement," KISD Superintendent Jenny McGown said in a statement. "I am so proud of our district, our incredibly dedicated teachers, our hardworking support staff, and, of course, our Klein ISD students and community."

According to the release, winners will be announced at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony on April 30. For more information about the program, click here.
