Updated Aug. 27 9:11 a.m.

Klein ISD announced the district would reopen on Aug. 28 as Hurricane Laura moves past the community in a Aug. 27 district update. Employees should report to work as usual and campus facilities will be staffed.

"Although we are relieved that the worst of the storm did not directly impact our immediate area, our neighbors to the east weren’t so fortunate," the update said. "Please continue to keep them in your thoughts as they begin to recover from this devastating hurricane."

Klein ISD will close Aug. 26-27 in preparation for Hurricane Laura, according to a district update Aug. 25. Buildings and campus services will be closed. A decision about district functions Aug. 28 will be made by 5 p.m. on Aug. 27.

No classes are in session because KISD previously moved the start of school to Sept. 8. However, district employees are training to prepare for the first day of school.
