Anderson Elementary School celebrated its 40th anniversary in Spring ISD with current and past administrators, teachers and students at a special ceremony Jan. 24. Located at 6218 Lynngate Drive, Spring, Anderson Elementary opened in 1979 as Spring ISD’s ninth elementary school.

The school was named in honor of George E. Anderson, who served on the SISD board of trustees for nine years, including five as board president, according to a Jan. 30 news release. Led by Principal Kristin Falcon, who also attended Anderson Elementary as a student, the school serves students in pre-K to fifth grade and had a student enrollment of 631 in the 2018-19 school year.

“It’s a wonderful tribute to your school community that your principal spent her elementary years here at Anderson and then came back to make it her home as an educator,” SISD Board President Rhonda Newhouse said in a statement. “That tells me that Anderson is more than a school. It’s a place where students and staff are able to learn and grow together to build a positive environment where everyone feels welcome.”
