Lakita Combs has been named principal of Elementary School No. 33, which is slated to open for the 2020-21 school year, according to a Klein ISD news release Jan. 10.

Combs has worked with KISD for her entire educational career, starting as a second grade teacher at Schultz and Metzler elementaries, according to the release.

At Metzler elementary, Combs also worked as a math and science instructional specialist, KISD math and science program coordinator, and as the school’s assistant principal for five years, according to the release.

Combs continued her work at Metzler elementary as principal for four years. During her time as principal, the campus was internationally recognized for its Visible Learning teaching methods.

The still unnamed Elementary School No. 33 is expected to open in fall 2020. Currently, the district is undergoing a rezoning process for its elementary schools to accommodate the new campus, Community Impact Newspaper previously reported.
