The YMCA of Greater Houston launched its 15th annual school supply drive, YMCA Operation Backpack, July 9 for students in the Greater Houston area. Donations will be accepted July 9 through Aug. 9 and will be distributed by community partners in local communities and school districts, including in Spring, Cypress, Baytown, The Woodlands, Tomball, Katy, Sugar Land, Lake Jackson, Humble and Pearland.
YMCA Operation Backpack aims to provide school supplies and new backpacks to 120,000 children in need from 36 school districts across the Greater Houston area, according to a July 9 YMCA news release.
Participants can make a monetary donation or see a list of school supplies at
ymcahouston.org/operation-backpackor. Pre-packaged school supplies and a backpack can be purchased at any participating H-E-B.
Supplies and backpacks can be dropped off at any YMCA or at designated drop off locations specified on the YMCA website.
