The Klein ISD board of trustees met Monday in the board room at 7200 Spring Cypress Road, Spring. Here are three highlights from the monthly meeting:
  1. New trustee will be sworn in on Dec. 11 Doug James—who won the election for Klein ISD's open board of trustees position—was scheduled to be sworn in at this meeting. However, Harris County has not finished canvassing all of the votes from the election, which means the results are not yet official. The canvassing is set to finish on Friday, Nov. 17. James will be sworn in at the next board meeting on Dec. 11.
  2. Design approved for new elementary school The board approved the design for Elementary School No. 33, which will open in August 2019. IBI is the architecture firm working on this project. The building was designed with input from students, principals and district administrators. View the design plans presented to the board here.
  3. Flood repairs added to renovation plans The board passed a resolution to initiate additions and renovations planned for Hildebrandt Intermediate School. This project—part of the district's 2015 bond package—originally consisted of remodeling the kitchen and adding a gymnasium. However, it now includes repairs to the school's facade, which was infiltrated with water during Hurricane Harvey.
The next board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Dec. 11 at 7200 Spring Cypress Road, Spring.
