Students will return to area public schools in the next two weeks. Here is what parents need to know about school schedules and enrollment before heading back:

Spring ISD

The 2017-18 school year begins Aug. 17. The school year begins 5 minutes earlier than last year. School hours are 7:55 a.m.-3:15 p.m. for elementary school students; 8:55 a.m.-4:15 p.m. for middle school students; 7:10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for high school students; 8:10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Roberson Middle School and 7:50 a.m.-3:10 p.m. at Spring Early College Academy. Children ages 4-21 who have not completed high school who live within Spring ISD boundaries may attend Spring ISD schools. Students must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 to attend prekindergarten and 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 to attend kindergarten. More information can be found here. The Spring ISD instruction calendar can be found here

Klein ISD

The 2017-18 school year begins Aug. 21. The district's new high school, Klein Cain High School, will open this fall to ninth- and 10th-graders at 10201 Spring Cypress Road, Houston. School hours in the new academic year are 8:15 a.m.-3:35 p.m. for elementary school students; 9:05 a.m.-4:25 p.m. for intermediate school students; and 7:25 a.m.-2:45 p.m. for high school students. Students new to the district can begin the enrollment process online. Meet the teacher events are held at district campuses next week, and school supply lists are available on the district website. The first day of school will be the day of a solar eclipse, and students will have an opportunity to safely view the eclipse outside or online unless parents submit a written request excusing their child from outdoor activities that day. Klein ISD requires parents to update registration information for each student enrolled. Klein ISD moved this yearly process online to Skyward Family Access, which replaces replacing the yellow Age, Grade and Registration card previously sent home in the First Day packet of information.  Online registration is available through Aug. 19. To complete the registration process, parents must log into their Skyward Family/Student Access account and select the student registration button.  Students will receive a schedule or teacher assignment after completion of online registration assignment. Detailed instructions can be viewed here. Video instructions for annual online registration can be viewed here.
