Last year’s event raised a record-breaking $1.9 million for the Houston Food Bank, according to officials involved with the fundraiser. Restaurants participating in the event offer special lunch and dinner menus. For each $20 lunch or brunch, restaurants will donate $3, generating nine food bank meals. Dinner prices range from $25 to $45, with restaurant donations ranging from $4 to $7 per dinner. “As one who reports on restaurants and chefs in our city, I am so grateful for the outpouring of support by Houston’s restaurant industry and diners for Houston Restaurant Weeks,” founder Cleverley Stone said in a press release. “Houston Restaurant Weeks has become one of the most anticipated times of the year for local foodies and visitors to our city.” Several restaurants in the Spring and Klein areas are participating this year. This is the third year Peli Peli Vintage Park has participated in the event. In 2014 it raised $7,000, and in 2015 it raised $13,000. This year, it hopes to raise $20,000 from the Vintage Park location. The restaurant, which offers South African fusion cuisine, also has a Galleria location. “Cleverley Stone has done a wonderful job creating a charitable experience that allows customers to give back while being able to try out new restaurants at affordable prices,” Nguyen said. “Knowing that a portion of every HRW meal will feel someone hungry is a powerful notion, and we embrace the opportunity to be part of that.” Participating restaurants can be found in the downtown Houston area as well as throughout suburban communities such as Spring, Cypress and The Woodlands. Restaurant types range from fine dining to casual eateries and cover a variety of cuisines. Other Spring and Klein area restaurants participating include:
  • Alamo Drafthouse Cinema-Vintage Park
  • Churrascos-Champions
  • El Tiempo-Vintage Park
  • Peli Peli-Vintage Park
  • Perry’s Steakhouse and Grille-Champions
  • TGI Friday’s-Willowbrook
