Cpl. Mike Ruby was recognized today by the
Spring Klein Chamber of Commerce as First Responder of the Month.
The designation recognizes those who are dedicated to providing full attention and diligence in their job, Harris County Precinct 4 Assistant Chief Deputy Michael Combest said.
“It’s a matter of him addressing matters that come up in the district, and he does so with diligence,” Combest said.
In addition, Ruby lends a helping hand to citizens that need it, including small things that tend to get overlooked, Combest said.
Spring Klein Chamber president Myeshi Briley said the First Responder award, one of nine the chamber presents, exists to acknowledge those in the community who are doing “phenomenal” things.
“This award is to link the community with the chamber and showcase those who are going above and beyond their normal duties,” she said.
Briley said Ruby went beyond the scope of his normal duties as a police officer in one recent instance, providing counseling and guidance to a young man.
Ruby was nominated by his superior officer, Combest said.
“He is a dedicated police officer and taking care of business,” Combest said.
