In July, Harris County Emergency Services District No. 7 acquired 50 acres of land at the corner of Louetta and Lexington roads at a cost of $10 million for the development of a multipurpose complex and training center for the Spring Fire Department. The grand opening of  the new Spring Fire Station 75 building on FM 2920 was also held Nov. 3. Additionally, Champions ESD broke ground for the $3.9 million Champions Fire Station No. 12 on Cutten Road in late 2018.

Spring Fire Department’s new training center, which is a multiyear project, will feature a multipurpose building, including a warehouse and mechanic shop, and a training field, SFD Communication Director Tracee Evans said. The department is also rebuilding its aging Station 74 on Aldine Westfield Road, which is expected to open in the third quarter of 2019 at a cost of $7.79 million, Evans said. Meanwhile, Champions Fire Station 12 will likely be fully operational in January 2020, CESD Fire Chief Dan Shelor said.
