The latest

Municipal Utility District 191, which serves a residential and commercial area near the slated construction site, proposed an alternative to the TxDOT plan that MUD 191 officials said would cost less and cause less disruption to property owners and businesses on the route. TxDOT did not adopt the plan proposed by the MUD.

What’s next

TxDOT officials said in December the department was in the right of way acquisition phase at FM 1960 and Hwy. 249. The project is scheduled to go out for bid in January 2019, TxDOT Public Information Officer Danny Perez said. The project to improve traffic signal communication is slated for completion in 2023-24. MUD 191 President Robert Price said district officials reached out to Gov. Greg Abbott’s office to voice their concerns about the TxDOT project in 2017, but as of January had not received a response.
