Four emergency services districts in Spring and Klein have built or are planning to build new or renovated facilities in 2017 and 2018. Klein Volunteer Fire Department completed a new station in late 2017 on Crescent Clover Drive, and Ponderosa Volunteer Fire Department opened a new building in April.

In addition to planning new construction, area fire departments invested in new rescue equipment following Hurricane Harvey-related flooding in August. Spring Fire Department will budget $150,000 for boats and high-water vehicles in 2018, and PVFD spent over $25,000 on similar equipment after the storm.

What’s next


Champions Emergency Services District will open a new $2.5 million-$3 million fire station on Cutten Road in late 2019, and Spring Fire Department will begin construction on a new building for its Aldine Westfield Road station in early 2018. Spring Fire Department plans to open the new station on FM 2920 in February.
