Ask the editor: Why are lanes closed on FM 1960?

The Transportation Updates we provide every month in Community Impact Newspaper focus on a few current or upcoming major projects overseen by Harris County Precinct 4 or the Texas Department of Transportation.

However, there is not always room for every active project, and not every project has a monthly update.

For example, for the past several months there have been lane closures on FM 1960 in Spring and Klein that affect daytime traffic and which we note online in our weekly listing of area road and lane closures.

The FM 1960 work is the result of TxDOT’s Statewide Curb Ramp Program, implemented to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. The work is meant to improve curb ramps and sidewalks on TxDOT facilities to make FM 1960 more accessible. The $2.7 million project will be completed in summer 2018, according to TxDOT officials.
