The Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve opened to the public  April 1 off Hwy. 249 and Chasewood Park Drive, offering Harris County residents a new location for walking, biking, fishing and canoeing. Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle was joined by Parks Director Dennis Johnston, Cypress Creek Greenway Chairman Jim Robertson and other area dignitaries in dedicating the park and honoring the two men whose companies donated the 80-acre property for the project.

Vincent Kickerillo, founder of Kickerillo Companies, and Walt Mischer Jr., whose family owns Mischer Investments, donated the 80-acre property to the county in 2009. The two companies developed the nearby The Vintage community. Both men were present at the event and participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The day also included canoe and pontoon boat rides as well as booths with information about mosquito control and other Harris County parks. Kickerill0-Mischer Preserve is located at 20215 Chasewood Park Drive, Houston.
