Here are five things residents of Spring and Klein should know this week, Nov. 7-11:

Klein ISD board of trustees will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, in the boardroom, 7200 Spring-Cypress Road, Spring. The meeting will include a budget workshop section.

Nov. 8 is Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. See our election stories here before you head to the polls Tuesday to find out about your local elections, including a bond referendum in Spring ISD. Early voting numbers were high last week so be sure to head to the polls early and be prepared, and follow along online on Election Day for insights and election results.

The Spring ISD board of trustees regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 8 was moved to Nov. 4 because of Election Day. There will be no board meeting Tuesday night.

Veterans Day is Friday, Nov. 11 and a Tribute to Veterans is planned Wednesday, Nov. 9 at Humble Civic Center for veterans and their spouses. Buses depart the Champions area at 4:30 p.m. from Champion Forest Baptist Church, 15555 Stuebner Airline, Houston, and at 5 p.m. from Spring Baptist Church, 1027 Spring Cypress Road, Spring. Reservations are required. Klein ISD will hold a Veterans Day salute to veterans and armed forces from 9:15-10:15 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 at Klein Memorial Stadium, 16607 Stuebner Airline Road, Spring.

Two alternate lanes are closed nightly on FM 2920 from 7:30 p.m-6 a.m. through the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 23, eastbound and westbound from Hwy. 249 to Business 249.
