Over the Labor Day weekend, nearly 177 volunteers from Kinsmen Lutheran Church joined the call to help out their community. One of the projects the volunteers participated in was to help clean the 1960 Community Hope Center. The center offers the homeless a place to shower, do laundry and use a computer. “They did a lot,” said Dianne Hutchinson, a volunteer for 1960 Community Hope Center. About 30 volunteers from Kinsmen, including many teens, washed windows, cleaned bathrooms, mopped floors, filled hygiene kits and folded brochures. “Now everything is so clean, and we’re ready for the week because of the wonderful team from Kinsmen,” Hutchinson said. Members of Kinsmen also painted the building and refreshed landscaping at The Life Center, a ministry for the homeless, as well as completed prep work for local teachers.
