Music Town co-owners Brent Evans and Kristen Rosen are planning to celebrate the shop's 45th anniversary in December.

The music store was founded by James May in 1979, who opened the music shop straight out of high school. In 2022, May retired and sold Music Town to Evans and Rosen.

What’s special about it?

Though Music Town has been a staple in the Spring and Klein community for more than four decades, Evans said the music shop has not changed much, and aims to preserve its neighborhood charm.

“I have always been really passionate about music, and when I started working there in the '90’s, I immediately fell in love with Music Town and being able to find stuff for people and just being around people that generally love music and physical media,” Evans said.

Evans and Rosen said Music Town is visited by people from all walks of lives and age ranges as they offer a variety of genres ranging from pop and rock to jazz. The music shop offers records, CDs, LPs, cassettes and DVDs.

What else?

Rosen said physical music media continues to be common amongst communities due to the features they offer such as high sound quality and art.

“I think that part of it is the tangibility of going to a place and holding a record in your hand, or holding a CD and being able to kind of immerse yourself in the entire experience,” Rosen said.

To commemorate the anniversary, Music Town is holding an all-day sip-and-shop event with giveaways on Dec. 14.
