Holiday Inn Express & Suites will open a new hotel in early August at 21606 Spring Plaza Drive, Spring. Hotel amenities will include free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, an outdoor patio with a fire pit, a swimming pool and a 1,000-square-foot flexible meeting space. State legislators seek removal of Confederate monuments at Texas Capitol

The decision may ultimately lie with Gov. Greg Abbott and the rest of the State Preservation Board, which last year authorized the removal of a plaque in the Capitol that said slavery was not an underlying cause of the Confederate rebellion.

Religious private schools in Spring, Klein see renewed interest ahead of 2020-21 school year

Local religious private schools, including Frassati Catholic High School and Northland Christian School, will begin the fall semester with in-person instruction Aug. 12; Providence Classical School will begin the school year with in-person instruction Aug. 24.

The project will also realign the road at West Hardy Street to incorporate a four-way intersection and close the railroad crossing at Caroline Street to accommodate a new railroad crossing north of Riley Fuzzel Road.
