Spring-based Ace Travel House, Inc. has recognized Julia DeVore, a Spring resident and registered nurse in Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital's emergency room, by awarding her a four-night vacation for her work during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to a May 4 press release.

To celebrate Travel Advisory Appreciation Month, Playa Hotels & Resorts partnered with U.S. travel agencies such as Ace Travel House, Inc. to award a vacation to a first responder of their choosing each day in May.

“Choosing one first responder to receive this award was quite daunting,” said Drake Hiller, president and CEO of Ace Travel House in a statement. “During what is certainly the most challenging times of our lives, our community is blessed with an untold number of heroes on the front lines.”

According to the news release, the vacation for two includes airport transfers and an excursion at a Playa Hotels & Resorts location of DeVore's choosing in either Mexico, Jamaica or the Dominican Republic.

“I am overwhelmed by the generosity and support of my friends, neighbors and co-workers as we go thru this pandemic together,” DeVore said in a statement. “This recognition by Ace Travel [House, Inc.] and Playa [Hotels &] Resorts made my day and it is sincerely appreciated.”

Hiller will present the award to Devore at her home in Spring on May 5 at 2 p.m., the release states.

"As tough as it was to pick just one person to represent the other first responder heroes, I felt that Julia DeVore personified her profession," Hiller said in a statement.
