Earlier this week the Wunsche Bros. Cafe & Saloon building, which was damaged by a fire in 2015, was purchased by the owners of Amerigo's Grille in The Woodlands.

The building was built in 1902 and was declared a historic landmark in 1984, according to the book "Spring: Through the Seasons" written by Spring resident Margaret Mallott Smith in 2001. The building survived through Prohibition, changed its name to Spring Cafe in the mid-1900s and was restored to its original condition and name in 1984, according to her research.

More recently, the building was a popular restaurant at 103 Midway St., Spring, known for its burgers and beer bread. It has been closed since 2015, however, when a fire caused smoke damage to the building and to an extension built in the 1980s.

In a Facebook post dated April 6, 2015 the owners posted photos of interior damage at the site.

Here is a look at some historical images of the building throughout the years.
