Since the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts flooded during Hurricane Harvey last August, we have received questions from readers wondering when the community’s art museum will reopen on Cypresswood Drive.

Located in the heart of the Cypress Creek Cultural District, museum officials announced last month they expect the building to be open in May—in time for its 10th anniversary.

Renovations included replacing the wood floors, glass doors and restoring the exhibit spaces. A gala is set for March 24 to continue fundraising efforts, as noted in our To-do list this month (see Page 8).

The cultural district’s other facilities—Barbara Bush Branch Library and The Centrum performance space— are still undergoing repairs, but the reopening of “The Pearl” will mark the beginning of the return of the area’s centers for the arts.

The first exhibit planned at the renovated museum will include American artists, such as Andrew Wyeth, Grandma Moses and Norman Rockwell. For more information about the museum, visit www.pearlmfa.org
