Precinct 2 Commissioner Grady Prestage presided over County Judge Robert Hebert’s seat while he was out of town during the regularly scheduled commissioners court meeting Nov. 28. The commissioners approved several agenda items:
1. Fort Bend Subsidence District
Commissioners approved the reappointment of two directors to the Fort Bend Subsidence District. Bobby Kunz will represent agricultural interests and Marvin Marcell will represent business interests as directors of the district for two-year terms starting Jan. 31.
2. Fairgrounds Livestock Building
Several agenda items regarding the county’s Fairgrounds Livestock building were approved at the meeting, including payments for engineering and surveying services and equipment totaling about $3,500.
3. Justice Center Expansion
Commissioners approved several invoices regarding the expansion of the Justice Center totaling more than $1.4 million. The invoices were for engineering services, architectural services, construction and construction management services required for the expansion.
The expansion calls for a three-story office building and will provide an additional 98,692 square feet that will be used for the district clerk, district attorney and county clerk. The expansion should be complete by early next year, according to county officials.
4. Toll systems implementation supplemental agreement
Commissioners approved a supplemental agreement between the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority and TransCore LP regarding the county’s toll systems implementation. The implementation does not affect toll rates, commissioners said.
“It [the agreement] is sort of modifying … the manner in which we handle it,” Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Myers said.
